Welcome to JHUMUNC 2009!
On behalf of the entire staff of the Johns Hopkins University Model UN Conference, we would like to welcome you to our website and invite you to join us for JHUMUNC Session XII, taking place at the Baltimore Convention Center in Baltimore, Maryland from March 5th, 2008 to March 8th, 2008. JHUMUNC began twelve years ago as a small conference on the Hopkins campus and over a decade later, we attract nearly 800 talented high school delegates from around the nation for our annual spring conference. Yet we still take pride in the fact that some things have not changed: the conference remains entirely student-run, and we maintain committees that allow novice delegates to gain experience while still providing a challenging atmosphere for experienced delegates.
JHUMUNC committees include a host of General Assembly and Economic and Social Council committees. We also have a number of smaller specialized committees as well as a unique triumverate simulation where delegates represent ministers on the cabinets of three closely linked countries. Our dedicated staff of nearly 100 undegraduates manages the entire conference and works throughout the year to plan an exciting and enriching experience for our delegates.
Our conference extends beyond the committee sessions and includes a number of special events for delegates including a delegate dance and movie night. We also feature "A Taste of Hopkins", a showcase of performances by the top performing arts groups at Johns Hopkins. In addition, we offer campus tours of the Johns Hopkins campus as well as the opportunity to learn about the college admissions process from one of Hopkins' Admissions Officers. Finally, our conference takes place in historic downtown Baltimore, home to Fort McHenry, the Edgar Allan Poe House and the world's best crab! You'll be located at the Inner Harbor, putting you walking distance from Camden Yards, the Harbor Place shopping area, the National Aquarium, Maryland Science Center and Lexington Market.
We would like to invite you to join us for JHUMUNC 2009 and we hope to see you there!
